You won but that is not enough

Zimbabwe’s ruling party is now trying to steal the elections from the opposition. The tactics are quite predictable, delay announcement of the results for awhile and then declare that the results are too fuzzy to declare a winner. Then run another election, this time with lots of intimidation against the population or outright cheating. See here

I always wonder why some political leaders cling to power no matter what. Maybe the taste of power is like a narcotic drug. One gets addicted to it and won’t let go. Maybe that leader has created a whole industry around him, and who are totally dependent on his power for their continuing economic gains. Whatever the reason, it seems to be more of a common thread in the history of humanity. Power corrupts and corrupts.
